Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi or Tai Chi Chuan was originally developed as a form of martial arts in China back in the 13th Century. With deep breathing exercises, relaxation, and flowing movements, Tai Chi is now practised as a gentle and health-promoting exercise.
The movements of Tai Chi promotes inner strength to find power for healing and wellness. With Tai Chi classes, you will be able to have a more balanced mental state and improve your general physical fitness. The theory behind Tai Chi uses the flow of energy in the body known as qi or chi. Practising will allow you to convert your qi to an internal force known as jing. This internal energy builds your strength and ability from the inside.
Sun Med offers comprehensive Tai Chi classes in Noosa. We are affiliated with Sunshine Coast Chen Style Tai Ji School, teaching the original form of Tai Chi derived from the Henan province of China.
Understanding Tai Chi
Tai Chi, an internal and gentle form of martial arts, values three main aspects: health, meditation, and martial arts. Practising Tai Chi brings together physical relief from the stress of the body and mind, maintaining internal balance, and self-defense in the form of gentle combat. Its ultimate purpose is to cultivate the qi throughout the body to flow smoothly and powerfully, bringing internal energy and strength. The essential principles of Tai Chi are mind with body, control of movements and breathing, converting internal energy, mind, loosening, and jing.
There are five main forms of Tai Chi. These share the same essential principles and theory of Tai Chi however with the use of different approaches. The major forms are Chen, Yang, Wu-Hao, Wu, and Sun styles. These styles are named after their origin Chinese families.
